Ground Penetrating Radar Systems-Oklahoma works with Environmental Firms nationwide providing ground radar services. On this project, GPRS was contacted to provide knowledge of the existing utilities within the proposed soil sampling areas. Wade Vickers-GPRS Oklahoma used radar locating to find multiple utilities within the boring areas. The findings were marked directly onto the surface using marking paint and pin flags. The markings were communicated with the customer and pink paint was used to provide area boundaries surrounding the drilling areas. GPRS saved the environmental firm significant costs relates to damages and possible injuries.

GPR-Void-Mapping-in-Lawton-OK.jpg

After heavy rains, caused the flood gates to be open for an extended period of time, Engineers were concerned of washout below the spillway slab creating voids or air space. The City of Lawton Engineers contacted Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, Inc. to scan for possible voids below the two feet concrete slabs. Mike Kuebbeler - GPRS Oklahoma mobilized to the site at Lake Ellsworth, just outside of Lawton, Oklahoma to perform a method of radar scanning within the suggested areas. Due to the portability of the GPR antenna, the radar imaging was performed quickly and accurately. Since the results were marked directly onto the surface, the customer was able to repair small areas of the spillway instead replacing the whole spillway, saving time and money to work in the concerned areas. Unlike x-ray/gamma ray, GroundGPR Void Mapping Project in Lawton, OK Penetrating Radar is time efficient, non-hazardous and able to show real time results. The energy emitted is equivalent to 1% of a cell phone, therefore, the production of the construction site can continue without any...

GPR-Concrete-Scan-for-Anchor-Bolts-Oklahoma-City-OK.jpg

Structural Engineers have contacted GPRS for many types of inspections to verify proper placement of reinforcement embedded within concrete. If structures are not built within the specifications structural integrity may have imminent failure. In this particular case GPRS was asked to determine if the anchor bolts were properly placed within a cylindrical reinforced column without damaging the preexisting reinforcement. As long as GPRS has direct contact and accessibility to the surface of the concrete, we can determine accurate depths of the rebar and take the bolt measurements to assure proper placement of the bolts without contact of the rebar.

Just like getting a utility locate done before digging it is very important to have an accurate locate before coring or drilling bolts within concrete. Striking a post-tension cable or rebar could cause serious harm or injury as well as substantial structural damage. Experienced General Contractors are aware of the hazards and contact Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, Inc. to scan the areas prior to core-drilling or inspect at the...

Since the results were marked directly onto the surface, the customer was able to avoid any conduits and reinforcing steel within the slab during the drilling process. Unlike x-ray/gamma ray, Ground Penetrating Radar is time efficient, non-hazardous and able to show real time results. The energy emitted is equivalent to 1% of a cell phone, therefore, the production of the construction site can continue without any radiation hazards.
