Concrete Scan For Reinforcing Steel Within Roof Slab - Muskogee, Oklahoma

Prior to anchoring into a roof slab, an energy company needed locate the reinforcing steel. Ground Penetrating Radar Systems-Oklahoma Division was contacted to provide knowledge of what lies beneath the surface. After the concrete scanning was performed, it was determined that there was 2 slabs, each approximately 7 inches thick. Using the ground penetrating radar antenna (capable of scanning 18-22 inches through concrete), the reinforcing steel was located and marked directly onto the concrete using black crayon. The markings gave a clear indication of the rebar pattern.

During the drilling process, the customer was able to avoid any reinforcing steel within the roof and maintain the structure’s integrity. Unlike x-ray/gamma ray, Ground Penetrating Radar is time efficient, non-hazardous and able to show real time results. The energy emitted is equivalent to 1% of a cell phone, therefore, the production of the construction site can continue without any radiation hazards. Also, the results are marked directly onto the surface without the need of film development. Ground Penetrating Systems, LLC. is the leader GPR service provider for projects nationwide.
