When an electrical contractor needed to core-drill through the 14 inch concrete slab to install new lines, Wade Vickers of GPRS-Oklahoma was contacted to mark out the reinforcing steel within the drilling areas at a Casino in Tulsa, OK. Using the ground penetrating radar antenna capable of scanning 18-22 inches of concrete, Wade was able to give the precise location and depth of the PT-cables and reinforcing steel, which gave the customer a clear area to drill. Since the results were marked directly onto the surface, the customer was able to avoid any post-tension cables and reinforcing steel within the slab during the core-drilling process. Ground Penetrating Radar is time efficient, non-hazardous and able to show real time results. The energy emitted is equivalent to 1% of a cell phone, therefore, the production of the construction site can continue without any radiation hazards.
