Concrete Scanning or Electrical Contractor Prior to Core-Drilling in Tulsa, Oklahoma

During the construction of a new casino/hotel, an electrical contractor needed to core-drill through the newly built post-tension slab. In order to avoid any post-tension cables during the drilling process, Wade Vickers of GPRS-Oklahoma was contacted to mark out the post tension cables and reinforcing steel within the drilling area on the 10th floor at a Casino in Tulsa, OK. After a thorough GPR investigation was performed, the precise location and depths of the PT cables and reinforcing steel were marked directly onto the surface using black marking crayon. The markings gave a clear indication of what lies beneath the surface. During the drilling process, the customer was able to avoid any post tension cables and reinforcing steel within the elevated slab. Unlike x-ray/gamma ray, Ground Penetrating Radar is time efficient, non-hazardous and able to show real time results. The energy emitted is equivalent to 1% of a cell phone, therefore, the production of the construction site can continue without any radiation hazards. The findings are then marked directly onto the surface without the need for film development.
