When a general contractor needed to cut a trench into the slab without hitting any rebar or damaging the joists, they contacted Ground Penetrating Radar Systems-Oklahoma Division to assist. After the radar imaging was performed, the location and depth of the steel were marked directly onto the surface using the ground penetrating radar antenna (capable of scanning 18-22 inches through concrete). The markings gave a clear indication of what lies beneath the surface. During the cutting process, the customer was able to avoid damaging the reinforcing steel within the slab and maintain the structure’s integrity.
