Ground Penetrating Radar Systems Locates Post-Tension Cables in Tulsa, Oklahoma

When a general contractor needed to core-drill through multiple post-tension slabs to install new ice machines, Wade Vickers of GPRS-Oklahoma was contacted to mark out the post tension cables and reinforcing steel within the drilling areas at the Hard Rock Casino & Resort in Tulsa, OK. The work consisted of scanning each drilling location on floors 4-10. After a thorough GPR investigation was performed, the precise location and depths of the PT cables and reinforcing steel were marked directly onto the surface using orange marking paint. The markings gave a clear indication of what lies beneath the surface. During the drilling process, the customer was able to avoid any post tension cables and reinforcing steel within each slab. Unlike x-ray/gamma ray, Ground Penetrating Radar is time efficient, non-hazardous and able to show real time results. The energy emitted is equivalent to 1% of a cell phone, therefore, the production of the construction site can continue without any radiation hazards.
