When a structural engineering firm noticed an uneven tilt on an existing double t structure, it was determined to install supporting braces to preserve the structure’s integrity. Ground Penetrating Radar Systems-Oklahoma Division was contacted to locate the post-tension cables and reinforcing steel within the double Ts and wall prior to the installation, to ensure no damage was done during the anchoring process. Using the ground penetrating radar antenna (capable of scanning 18-22 inches through concrete), the reinforcing steel was located and marked directly onto the concrete using black crayon. The markings show the precise location of the stirrups, rebar and PT cables within the structure. During the drilling process, the customer was able to avoid any cables and reinforcing steel within the wall and double Ts.
