Prior to core-drilling through an elevated slab, a mechanical contractor needed to locate the reinforcing steel. Ground Penetrating Radar Systems-Oklahoma Division was contacted to provide knowledge of what lies beneath the surface. After the concrete scanning was performed, the rebar was marked directly onto the surface using black crayon and communicated with the foreman on site. The markings gave a clear indication of reinforcing steel within the drilling area. During the drilling process, the customer was able to avoid any reinforcing steel within the 2nd story slab and maintain the structure’s integrity.
