Reinforcing Steel Located in CMU Block Wall in Tulsa, Oklahoma

Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, Inc. was contacted to locate the reinforcing steel within a CMU block wall prior to the installation of metallic plates in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Using the ground penetrating radar antenna capable of scanning 18-22 inches of concrete, Wade Vickers of GPRS-Oklahoma mobilized to the site and was able to give the precise location and depth of the steel within the block wall, which gave the customer clear areas to drill. Since the results were marked directly onto the surface, the customer was able to avoid any reinforcing steel within the wall during the anchoring process. Unlike x-ray/gamma ray, Ground Penetrating Radar is time efficient, non-hazardous and able to show real time results. The energy emitted is equivalent to 1% of a cell phone, therefore, the production of the construction site can continue without any radiation hazards.
