Underground Void Detection Investigation Using Ground Penetrating Radar - Jenks, Oklahoma

When an energy plant had suspicion of possible existence of underground voids within their property, Wade Vickers of GPRS-Oklahoma was contacted to perform a subsurface imaging investigation to confirm the existence of these voids. After a thorough analysis was performed, GPRS located large areas of concern. If the company had parked large machinery or placed anything with a considerable amount of weight on the slab, it would have collapsed under the weight. The findings were marked directly onto the surface using duct tape and black marker, so the floor would not be damaged. These voids may have been created by a broken drain line or some erosion over time. Ground Penetrating Radar is a non-hazardous, non-destructive way of locating obstructions beneath the surface. No one had to be cleared from the area, so the workers could continue to do their jobs during the investigation of the plant. The GPR shows results in real time, so the plant could operate under its normal business hours, and have the investigation performed simultaneously.
