Void Mapping a Spillway after Heavy Rains - Lawton, Oklahoma

After heavy rains, caused the flood gates to be open for an extended period of time, Engineers were concerned of washout below the spillway slab creating voids or air space. The City of Lawton Engineers contacted Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, Inc. to scan for possible voids below the two feet concrete slabs. Mike Kuebbeler - GPRS Oklahoma mobilized to the site at Lake Ellsworth, just outside of Lawton, Oklahoma to perform a method of radar scanning within the suggested areas. Due to the portability of the GPR antenna, the radar imaging was performed quickly and accurately. Since the results were marked directly onto the surface, the customer was able to repair small areas of the spillway instead replacing the whole spillway, saving time and money to work in the concerned areas. Unlike x-ray/gamma ray, GroundGPR Void Mapping Project in Lawton, OK Penetrating Radar is time efficient, non-hazardous and able to show real time results. The energy emitted is equivalent to 1% of a cell phone, therefore, the production of the construction site can continue without any radiation hazards.
